CHARLOTTE OWEN
Ko Taupiri te maunga
Ko Waikato te awa
Ko Tainui te waka
I have over a decade of experience working with tamariki and their whānau across both government and private settings.
I support children experiencing psychosocial challenges, including grief, changes in whānau dynamics and emotional or behavioural difficulties such as anxiety, depression and phobias. I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including ASD and ADHD, and work in a neuro-affirming way that recognises each child’s unique strengths and differences. My focus is on collaboratively developing practical strategies that support wellbeing, engagement and participation across home, school and community contexts.
My therapeutic approach draws from Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailored to the individual needs of each child and their whānau. My practice is guided by kaupapa Māori principles, with a strong emphasis on whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and supporting whānau aspirations.
