Sarah Telfar
Sarah is a registered Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about supporting the emotional, behavioural and developmental wellbeing of tamariki and their whānau.
She brings a warm, empathetic, and curious approach to her work and values early, thoughtful, and culturally responsive interventions that enable tamariki and their whānau to thrive.
She has a broad range of experience, including roles within specialist mental health services, child and family psychology, youth justice and forensic psychology. This diverse background equips her to support a wide range of presenting concerns.
Sarah works in a child- and whānau-centred manner that honours diversity and cultural understandings of wellbeing. She integrates kaupapa Māori models of practice alongside evidence-based approaches. She is particularly interested in understanding how thoughts and emotions influence behaviours and relationships.
In her clinical practice, she draws on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) to support emotional regulation, behaviour change, learning, development, and the strengthening of positive relationships.
Sarah approaches her work with respect and integrity and is committed to providing compassionate, practical, and holistic care for tamariki and their whānau.
