Katherine Lee
Katherine is a registered Psychologist who specialises in the assessment and treatment for a range of mental health and wellbeing issues in older adolescents and teenagers. She also has a background working with anti-social behaviour through her previous work with Youth Horizons Trust and the Department of Corrections.
Katherine believes in the importance of working with whanau, where possible, when working with young people. She prioritises adopting a compassionate and warm approach to therapy and believes in the importance of therapy being as welcoming and empowering as possible. She is guided by a young person’s goals for therapy which may include exploring practical coping strategies, developing self-awareness, or more positive thinking and behavioural patterns. She believes that the teenage years can be a time of considerable change, discovery, and sometimes confusion, and feels that it is a privilege to be able to provide support at this important time in a young person’s life.
Katherine is trained in various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and is working towards accreditation in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing. She can assist with a range of issues, for example: managing big emotions, trauma, anxiety, adjustment, navigating life’s ups and downs, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and grief and loss.
