Jacquie Tonks
Jacquie is a registered educational psychologist and registered teacher. She has been involved with education for over 20 years. Many of those years have been in the Learning Support space, so she has a good understanding of learning and behaviour within the school context.
She discovered psychology and found this very helpful in giving a deeper insight into some of the situations that she was seeing within the school context. She loved it so much that she decided to become a psychologist and qualified at the end of 2020.
Jacquie has also run parenting programmes and is the parent of four children. This has given her some awareness of the complexities of raising children as well as knowing some different tips and strategies.
Jacquie knows that children given the right environment, time and support, can develop and grow towards their potential.
Her approach is strengths-based and individualised, with the goal of working with and developing interventions with the team around the child.
She wants to support tamariki and whanau to blossom so that they can live life to the fullest.
