
Debbie Wilson
Debbie is a Child Psychiatrist who undertook her medical training in Otago and her Psychiatric training in Christchurch.
She provides assessment and treatment for children with mental health, social or emotional difficulties, or with neurodiversity.
Assessments involve whānau as she believes it is important to understand each child within their environment, including their important relationships.
Debbie is an experienced psychiatrist, initially practising as a perinatal psychiatrist before adding to her skill base by training as a child psychiatrist.
She has a special interest in neurodiversity. She values working with other health professionals, the client and their whānau as part of the “team”.
Until retiring from her position as Senior lecturer for the Department of Psychological Medicine, Otago University, she co-coordinated courses in Infant Mental Health and Perinatal Mental Health.
Debbie is Pākehā and acknowledges this influences her perspectives. She endeavours to respect the heritage, culture and values of her clients and their whānau.
